Thursday surprises
Let’s start this morning with the alarm going off, Thursday of surprises begins.
The alarm rings, but I think of the cold outside in the hostile country (-2) of the warmth of my bed and as if nothing had happened I go back to sleep (in my mind, even calm because today is a slow day and I have only marked the appointment in my mental diary at 17).
Then after a while I wake up and pick up the phone… and I see an appointment marked: blood tests at St. Thomas. I look at the time, I look at the cell, I check the time again… nothing. I scream running thinking that I have exactly 30 minutes for my appointment, and you know, the hostile people are punctual.
So I start the day running, showering while having a coffee, dressing while taking my meds and cursing myself.
I run out and head towards the postopoveri stop….and while I’m there, I do the route with maps and it says “journey cancelled”…how is the journey cancelled??? because??? when ever???? Then he makes me alternative routes with like three poor movers, various changes. I do nothing on my own. Meter.
Nothing, I run to the subway thinking that I can along the way there are two taxi ranks, so I’ll take a taxi. Obviously there are no taxis in the parking area. Clear.
And then the subway … I get off at Westminster (I have to cross the bridge and I’m there). It seems useless to me to put the link here, for obvious reasons of general knowledge. And I think of them at the sight, I take the picture on this freezing winter day but with the sun, the way I like it.
I arrive at the pick-up point 17 minutes late. I apologize to the reception for the delay, telling the above … and she sweetly says to me: “but don’t worry Veronica” with the classic English accent.
And I realized that they too take it philosophically.
So today wake up surprise, bus canceled surprise, surprise I was late and how nobody gave a damn. But the best surprise on Thursday was the vision of the parliament, the majesty of the places, which, despite having passed there many times, impressed me today. Maybe I was on the right side of the bridge!
Ps I tried to cancel the appointment but there was a call center and I’m deaf, it’s not like I have a good relationship with the phone call.
Pps on the way back I took a poor mover to try another alternative route. I did not like it. I prefer the subway. and of course on the way back the taxi stands are full!
