August 20 – a year ago and beyond

A year ago the first chemo. The first of three, which then became six, which then became seven.

I don’t have a suitable photo, but I found this one, taken on my way back from Milan by car. I was just tired. Very amazed that it has no side effects. In reality, those were there, and also heavy, from the second onwards.

August 20 is an important date for me because it would also be the anniversary date with her husband. Not from the first meeting. We met at the end of July in a slightly empty Florence, where for the heat we went to Piazza Santo Spirito to drink. One Friday evening I was with my friends and I was waiting for the mess of that time when a friend of mine Matte arrived and introduced me to this guy, describing him as a great funny guy and a very cool guy (they say so in Tuscany).

The subject in question apologizes for the presentation and urged by Matte to make a joke he says to me the following sentence embarrassed: “beautiful legs at what time do they open”. I look at him, disgusted and tell him that in my

opinion it doesn’t go that far.I find the subject in question together with Matte also the following evening where I was in line to get a drink, I see him behind me and ask him what he wanted to drink. I get him a vodka lemon and we join the others. He now claims that I was cooked for them, but in reality I was just polite and queuing in front of the counter.

Then I see Matte and the subject again the following weekend. He asks me out. Let’s go for a pizza but nothing special.

Everyone left for their holidays.

We met again on August 20, 2013 in a hot and sultry Florence, which was slowly recovering from the heat and the summer … and from there the subject became the husband.

Now August 20th is an important date. I consider it the anniversary and I don’t want to think too much about the 20th of August a year ago.
