A tea with the Queen
After a a weird, angry and chaotic week yesterday, Sunday afternoon I indulged in tea with the Queen.
Or rather a real Afternoon tea, at the Goring hotel (the queen’s own). Still on the subject of celebrations for the platinum jubilee, I found the effigy of dear elisabetta on pastries, on scones … everywhere,
But let’s go in order.
Last week I was angry (of the series all to fuck it and that’s it), disappointed, embittered, sad … but then one wonders why?
well, it would be very convenient to say why I’m sick … but it’s not just comfortable, it’s unfortunately the truth. Now trying to make the concept that I am ill, and no one understands it if there is no past, unfortunately I have to learn that I am no longer the same as before. I’m not talking about the fact that I’m deaf (which is no small feat), or all those “but you’re stronger” talk; “But that’s not true”, “But you have to recover” … here are those who say so deserve this answer that now more than ever I’ll use “and what the fuck do I care”.
Having ascertained this new answer, it is clear that I have to learn to physically “protect” myself. Unfortunately, I have an autoimmune disease, which is not going away. stay (the bitch) and I have to learn that my body now thinks a little as the hell it likes, without being so much listening to what I would like to do … here … on this point of the brain body dialogue, I could also work, but I know that the disease does not want to reason.
So, ther husband took me to celebrate my belated birthday with a wonderful afternoon tea.
In short, a nice tea with the queen. This was my second afternoon tea experience. and i have to say a lot more maybe english style, especially the hotel. certainly cannot compete with the surprise of the first one, the scenography, the informal but kind tone of the staff. These seemed to me more picky … in short, perhaps too English.
The excellent sandwiches (despite the various flavors my favorite is always cucumber and salted butter, a timeless classic), the scones I think are better yesterday than the first time. The final pastry instead much better the first time. I must say, however, that it is too good an experience not to do at least once … (even more obvious), and perhaps the bollinger rosé shows everything in a different light.
Another super important thing for a food lover like me is that last time they gave us the doggy bag (of all the sweets !!!!). Here they gave us nothing.
But do you want to put the majesty of a tea with the queen?
ps now I’m looking for the next hotel for the third afternoo tea. I decided to rank London places. In my list there are the Ritz, the Savoy, the Gong (Shangri la) to try …. and then you could go on … indeed you certainly continue.
